The Dark Horde is a collective of internationally recognised musicians, vocalists and actors from Melbourne, Australia. Together they have created The Calling, a concept album written and directed by Andrew "Brewin" Drage.

The Calling is a musical narrative experience featuring a supernatural horror story set to an "eighties heavy metal" soundtrack. It is the prequel to Brewin's award-winning horror novel The Dark Horde, set in south-eastern Australia in 1989.

Puppet is the eighth track from The Calling album.

I recall chanting one fateful night for many semiconscious hours,
when I was startled awake by a sharp crack in front of me.
Before me stretched a black void with depths beyond comprehension.
A nauseating stench fell over me and I saw that
within the nebulous darkness was a pair of eyes: red convex slits.
They were a short distance away and staring directly at me,
my mind naked before their gaze…
